Arrived in Madrid

Good morning from Spain. Our American Airlines flight from Philly was great. They rolled over the stairway to deplane and I felt like the President getting off Air Force One.

Madrid airport felt comfortable and familiar since we passed through here in 2016 when we walked the Canino de Santiago.  The modern terminal is clean, bright and aesthetically pleasing. I like the undulating ceiling with the colored support beams.
In Spain orange juice is freshly-squeezed and served in a real glass-not a plastic cup. The cafe americano gave us a much-needed caffeine boost after the 7-hour flight and the croissant was flaky and buttery.

Not many travelers are wearing masks but we are. There are hand sanitizer stations everywhere and these orange spots to show where to stand while waiting for the train.
We relaxed during our 7-hour layover and walked a couple miles back and forth in the terminal. It will be lovely when we finally get to Strausbourg and can go to bed! 🥱😴
